After 25 years of working on contaminated sites, NWR is now focusing only on contaminated sites that result from environmental emergencies - specifically related to petroleum hydrocarbon spill incidents.
NWR developed a Standard Operating Procedure (2021) that outlines a Best Management Practice for treating small volumes of petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated material. This SOP was developed to ensure that best management practices are implemented to reduce long-term site contamination from on-going non-reportable spills (as per Legislative Definition), leaks and drips from equipment and on-site facilities.
